Founder and President
As Founder and President of The Steely Group, Julie oversees the firm’s operations, growth strategies, market initiatives, and new business development. She also helps key clients navigate their most ambitious business transformation programs, and spearheads the firm’s recruiting practice.
Julie’s success in the recruiting industry spans more than 25 years, and is built on a foundation of integrity and service guided by core personal values of honesty and reliability. She is driven by a desire to positively impact the lives of others, and finds great reward in matching talented professionals with new and exciting opportunities at client companies.
Widely regarded as an industry leader, Julie is best-known for her interpersonal skills and networking mastery. She’s also recognized for her proven track record in consistently delivering top-drawer service at lightning speed to clients and candidates alike.
Prior to launching The Steely Group, Julie held executive roles at Advanced Clinical Services, Delta-Pharma, and Staffing Consultants. She holds a B.A. in Communication with a focus on Radio, Television and Film from Loyola University, and is an active member in the Illinois Search & Staffing Association (ISSA), Drug Information Association (DIA), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Society for Talent Acquisition and Recruitment (STAR), and Human Resources Management Association of Chicago (HRMAC).
Julie has been recognized with numerous awards throughout her career. In November 2016, Julie was honored by the Daily Herald Business Ledger with the Influential Women in Business Award. In April 2017, Julie received the Enterprising Women of the Year Award from Enterprising Women Magazine. This award is an annual tribute to the world’s top women entrepreneurs and is widely considered one of the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners. Nominees must demonstrate that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship, and stand out as leaders in their communities.
Outside of her professional life, Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, walking, and traveling to warm places. She has been a hospice volunteer for 14 years and an active supporter of the March of Dimes and the Girl Forward mentoring program.
